"We've done more than any other country": Donald Trump wants to rename May 8 and November 11 "Victory Days"

"I am renaming May 8th as VE Day and November 11th as VE Day," Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.

May 8 , widely celebrated in Western Europe (Russia celebrates it on May 9), is not a national holiday in the United States . November 11 is, and is still known as "Veterans Day" to honor veterans.

"No one could hold a candle to us."

"Many of our allies and friends celebrate May 8 as VE Day, but we did more than any other country, by far , to achieve a victorious outcome in World War II," Trump continued.

"We won both wars, no one could match us in strength, bravery, or military genius, but we never celebrate anything—that's because we no longer have leaders who know how!" the president lamented. "We're going to start celebrating our victories again!"

This statement was not, however, immediately followed by the proclamation of a decree.
